A new Hope
Market and Opinion Research is an important industry. It is THE industry which helps decision makers (of brands, politics and public institutions) to know what consumers and citizens feel and think. But digital transformation changed the game and it will continue to do so. As an industry, we need a strong, united and global voice and an institution which defends our interests – ESOMAR.
Our interests need to be defended among law makers, but also protected against the GAFA, which are getting into an oligopolistic situation in data-ownership.
But ESOMAR is integral in promoting knowledge, among the different actors of Market Research, but also amongst brands. A lot of the decisions in e-commerce and digital marketing are based on other available data, ignoring Market Research knowledge. Our industry needs to strengthen its position and to strongly communicate the support and insights we can provide brands with.
